Want to ensure that you’re wedding is as unique as possible? Here are a few ways to inject your big day with a healthy dose of personality…
Swap the cake
The cake is traditional, but is it really you? If you aren’t much of a cake lover, there’s no reason why you should have one, and switching it for something that you and your beloved really do enjoy is an easy way to add some unique personality to the proceedings. Love ice cream? Serve that instead. Go wild for waffles and syrup? Why not. The sky is the limit when it comes to “the something sweet” part of your wedding. Heck, you could do away with sweetness and have a wedding “cake” made of cheese if you’re so inclined.
Hire a photo booth
Wedding photographers are great, and you should definitely hire one for those amazing pictures you’re going to want to look back on, but there is a lot to be said for Photo Booth Hire too. Why? Because photo booths make things more fun. They come with props, which means your guests can have a laugh and get silly, and they’re always available for when anyone fancies taking a snap, which means you get lots of candid shots you wouldn’t normally see, especially when everyone’s had a few drinks! They’re great fun.
Make a grand entrance
Instead of riding to the church in a classic car, what about showing up in the Batmobile, on a tandem bike, or even a tractor. Choose a vehicle that really suits your style and says something about you and not only will you have more fun, but your entrance will be totally unforgettable.
Get your guests involved
Whether you have them draw their favourite film and use the image as a place setting or you get them to specify their favourite song so you can add it to the wedding playlist, getting your guests as involved as possible in your wedding is a sure-fire way to make the proceedings a bit more unique.
Create a custom cocktail
What better way to mark your coming together than creating your own unique cocktail with ingredients that each of you loves? Come up with something tasty and have the caterers make up a big old batch of it so that all of your guests can sample it throughout the wedding.
Write a song
Instead of writing a speech or coming up with your own vows — both of which have been done to death — if you want to be really unique, why not write a song about your beloved and have the live band perform it at the reception. If you’re feeling brave, you could even get up on stage and perform it yourself.
Mix up the Colour Scheme
Remember that you don’t have to stick to traditional colours on your wedding day. Brides don’t have to wear white. My dream wedding dress is Dita Von Teese’s stunning Vivienne Westwood Purple Wedding Dress. You could even wear a rainbow coloured wedding dress if you wanted to. Your bridesmaids can wear any colour too, you could even consider white bridesmaid dresses or bridesmaids each wearing a different colour. It’s your wedding and your colour scheme.
Add a sprinkle of your favourite things
From Harry Potter cake toppers to having your pet dog be the ring bearer, sprinkling the proceedings with the stuff you love the most is a great way to make the day more unique, and more importantly, to make it more enjoyable and meaningful for you both.
Have an amazing wedding day!
