Day 15 of Blogmas and I’m sharing a photo from last night’s Candlelit Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols for Christmas at St Katharine and St Peter’s Church. It is such a peaceful and beautiful service. I look forward to it every year. This year, the church is decorated with hanging stars, which have been made by people in the community. Last year, it was a Heavenly Host of Angels. These can be viewed at St David’s Cathedral this year, which I’m hoping to see.
I love singing Christmas carols. When I was younger, we’d sing them at bathtime, in the car, in the house and at school, of course. I remember one day when Mum, my sisters and I were singing them in the car, my Grampy, sitting in the front, said he loved listening to us sing, bless him.

I love this photo, as my mum and Great Gran both look so happy. We did have a lovely evening. It was an awful night weather-wise, very wet and windy, but still a really good turnout. The town band played a few lively numbers too, and we got to sing one of my favourite carols, In the Bleak Midwinter. I’m looking forward to the Crib Service on Christmas Eve.
What’s one of your favourite carols?
