🍂 Our Family Autumn Bucket List 2025
As the leaves turn golden and the air feels crisp, we always get excited to welcome autumn. It’s the season for cosy nights, fresh walks, and little adventures that make family life feel extra special. Every year I like to write a bucket list of the things we’d love to do together before winter sets in. Some are simple everyday joys, others are bigger outings — but all are guaranteed to bring us that autumn magic.
Here’s what’s on our list this year:
🍁 1. Go on a Woodland Walk and Collect Conkers
We love a woodland walk all year round, especially now we have Ozzy the dog. But you can’t beat crunching through leaves, spotting mystical mushrooms, and filling our pockets with autumn treasures. We’ve collected some conkers for Ceri and Rebecca who are hoping they will help keep the spiders away. We also love this simple hedgehog conker craft.
🎃 2. Visit a Pumpkin Patch
We love going pumpkin picking in Pembrokeshire. Pick pumpkins for carving, cooking, and decorating the doorstep. We are excited that there will once again be a Pumpkin Patch at Steynton Farm, our local farm. This year we hope to visit one after dark and visit a spooky maze too.
🍎 3. Bake Something with Seasonal Fruit
Mmm, we can’t wait to bake apple or blackberry crumble, spiced muffins, spooky biscuits or even pumpkin pie for a treat.
🌊 4. A Wild Beach Walk
We love our daily beach walks, but there’s something magical about a windswept beach in autumn.
☕ 5. Cosy Film Nights
Hot chocolate, blankets, fairy lights, and our favourite family films- with Halloween approaching, it’s the perfect season to watch Spooky films.
📚 6. Read a good Autumn Story/Book
I miss the kids being young and snuggling up with them to read books about woodland animals, witches, and adventures. I will enjoy getting cosy with a cup of tea and an autumn novel though- any recommendations?
🕯️ 7. Add Autumn Touches to Our Home
It’s time to put our summer fans back up the attic (as long as I keep my hot flushes under control!). Now we can bring autumn into the home by adding candles, blankets, and maybe a few pinecones or leaves we’ve collected.
🌌 8. Stargazing on a Clear Night
Crisp skies make autumn perfect for spotting constellations. We’re planning to drive down to Kete, Dale which is a Dark Sky Discovery Site, with blankets, quilts, flasks and a telescope to stargaze.
🎃 9. Celebrate Halloween
Autumn means it’s time to celebrate Halloween on October 31st. Read about our Halloween traditions here.
🧡 10. Celebrate Bonfire Night
Remember, remember the 5th of November. We’ll celebrate Bonfire Night by attending a firework display in Pembrokeshire, then enjoying sparklers, hot dogs, and wrapping up warm. Read about our Bonfire night traditions, things will be different this year with Ozzy to think about.
🎨 11. Get Creative with Autumn Crafts
My dream is one day I’ll have time to return to knitting (I still need to learn crochet from Rebecca), sewing or cross-stitch and sit with a blanket on my knees crafting but I find it hard to find the time. Hopefully, with Izzy, we’ll get to do some quick crafts, such as leaf rubbings, pressed flower bookmarks, or making conker animals. I love these quick wool pumpkins that Sara Davies shared.
✍️ 12. Join in with Blogtober
One of my favourite things about autumn is Blogtober. I started blogging to share my thoughts and to share our family adventures. As time went on and the kids grew up- even our youngest is a teen now- I’ve found it hard to keep up with the personal posts. Blogtober always brings me back to this, the heart of blogging. As it ends, I vow to continue even when Blogtober ends, but so far I haven’t. Maybe this year will be the year… If you’re a blogger and want to take part, join our Blogtober 2025 Facebook group. It’s a lovely supportive community. I love reading everyone’s post each year.
✨ What’s on Your Autumn Bucket List?
We’ll keep updating as we tick these off and share our adventures. What are your favourite autumn traditions? We’d love to hear them in the comments.
