As a parent, life can be overwhelming a lot of the time. You’re often trying to juggle the daily aspects of bringing up children, as well as running a home and trying to work too. These are all things that can build up and soon become overwhelming. When you feel overwhelmed, these feelings can pass onto your children and you might also find yourself worrying about how you’re going to make things better. To stop yourself getting too anxious, there are a few things you can do. We’ve put together some top tips below that should help you feel better about it all.

Have to do lists and try to be organised
As any parent will know, your life is filled with trying to juggle after school clubs, having friends around, music lessons, homework and actual work and life events at the same time. There are so many things it’s not surprising it can get overwhelming at times! To avoid this, make to-do lists so you can get things sorted and know what’s happening when. It’s a good idea to have a shared calendar with your other half so you both know what to do when. This means there’s no confusion and you can both get things done when they’re needed.
Take some time just for you
Parenting anxiety is so normal, but if you don’t take time out for yourself it can get a lot worse. To combat this, make sure you have time for yourself during the week as well as for your kids. You can get your partner, a friend or relative to watch your kids even for an hour or two, when you can relax and have a bath, read a book or just do something you love. Perhaps you can pamper yourself with CBDistillery products, or maybe you can just enjoy a bit of peace and quiet and a good book.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help and speak to others
As well as the above tips, don’t be afraid to speak out. Silence is one of the worst causes of anxiety getting worse, so by opening up to people such as friends and family members, you can help to stop it spiralling out of control. Mental health is no longer the stigmatised topic it used to be, so don’t be afraid to share how you’re feeling – after all, a problem shared is a problem halved! Be open and honest, people will want to help and be there for you.
These are just a few things you can do to help keep parenting anxiety in check. It’s totally normal to feel anxious and a bit as though you don’t know what you’re doing – we’re all trying to muddle our way through after all!
