This week the temperature has definitely cooled down and it will be getting a lot colder. We’re warming up by cooking and eating our favourite winter comfort foods. I’m vegan and live with one vegetarian and four omnis, so these are all meals that it’s easy for me to make an omni and a vegan version, so I’m not cooking too many different meals each evening. We enjoyed a particularly warm summer this year, so I haven’t cooked some of these dishes in a while. I’d even forgot about some of our old winter favourites like the Bacon, Cabbage and Canneloni soup. Take a look at our list of ten favourite vegan winter comfort foods:
- Vegan Cottage Pie
- Sausage, Mash, Veg and Onion Gravy (here’s a similar recipe for our Vegan Sausage and Colcannon)
- Vegan Cawl
- Brocolli and Kale Miso Soup
- A Vegan Roast Dinner
- Cooked Breakfast
- Vegan Bacon, Cabbage and Canneloni Soup
- Vegan Toad in the Hole
- Vegetable Chilli
- Sweet Potato, Chickpea and Spinach Coconut Curry
Oh, there are lots more I could add (how could I have missed out Stew and Dumplings, thanks to Shell Louise for reminding me) – and we haven’t even started on winter puddings! Sorry about the photos in my old recipe posts by the way- I need to update these!
I can’t wait to eat all of these winter comfort foods again. We were going to have Sausage and Mash last night until Izzy pointed out that she’d already had it in school that day, so we swapped our nights around!
What are your favourite winter comfort foods?

These recipes sound great! My husband and I are not vegan but we often cook vegan meals so I’m always on the lookout for more great recipes.

What delicious sounding meals. I am not vegan or veggie but I do like to feed my family at least one meal a week with no meat. I love the sound of the curry.

Love a good curry xxx
Toad in the hole is my favourite comfort food of all. I have to admit though, I do like it with pork and apple sausages. I do eat vegan sausages sometimes though, I’m not vegan but we eat a lot of vegan, vegetarian food because we are not really big meat eaters.
I do love my winter comfort foods, I have been wanting a chilli for a week or so now, must add it to next weeks menu

OOooohh these all sound super yummy. I’m especially liking the sound of the vegan roast dinner. We are big fans of butternut squash and I’m always on the look out for new ways to prep it. #blogtober22 xx

Winter is my favourite season because of all the delicious, rich food. I love the soups and stews that come with the cooler weather. That veggie chilli sounds delicious.
