Hello, sorry I’ve been neglecting this space again and not publishing many ‘personal’ blog posts. I have been working on a post rounding up our favourite days out from 2021, but it’s taking longer than I expected. While I keep on going with that I thought I’d share a quick blog post. Last week for our Wednesday lunch out (which from now on I’m trying to think of as our “Wednesday Walk” with lunch) we went to Neyland Marina. Take a look at our walk along Westfield Pill Nature Reserve and lunch at Manillas:

Westfield Pill Nature Reserve
During this visit I did more walking and talking that taking photos. But if you search this blog, you’ll find many posts about Westfield Pill as it’s one of our favourite walks to frequent. We love seeing the birds, swans, ducks, squirrels and mice along the path. Often people spot an otter too. It’s a popular walk with dog walkers, joggers and cyclists. There are also lots of stopping places along the way to sit and relax in nature. Mum and I love watching the fish jump out of the water- it’s so calming.

This friendly robin and a cute blue tit kept flying down to see us on the path. We walked up to where the path meets Water Lane and then headed back for lunch. If you continue further you get to Rosemarket and then to the end of the trail in Johnston.

Manillas Neyland
We had worked up an appetite so went for lunch at Manillas. They were busy as it’s a popular cafe due its location and great food. They managed to fit us in by adding a chair to a table.

They have always had great vegan options. I chose the Vegan Patties and Salad and it was like a delicious Buddha bowl, full off lots of different salads, grains and beans- so tasty! They also offer Roasted Med Beg and Hummus Filled Rustic Roll, which sounds lovely too. I was full after my salad but keep an eye out on their Facebook page for tempting vegan cakes. They also serve vegan milk alternatives.
Now the weather’s getting warmer and we head into Spring we want to get out more so we’ll definitely becoming here more often. Once it’s light enough, I’ll take the younger girls here again for a walk, scoot or cycle while Rebecca volunteers at Neyland Brownies.
