Just a quick post for my Blogtober (11th) today. I wanted to blog our Sunday day out but I’m struggling to upload the photos. Hopefully, I’ll share that with you soon.
So, what did we get up to on the weekend? Read on to find out:

Half Day Friday
On half-day Friday, after school, we went to Nanny’s for lunch. After dinner, Caitlyn made Welsh Cakes with her cousin Cerys. They go to Guides together and are currently (or should that be ‘currant’ly?) working towards their Confectionery Badge. They made them quickly and easily and they looked and smelt delicious. I’m going to ask Caitlyn to make some veganised ones for me as I haven’t made them myself in ages (well not since March for St David’s Day).
County Football
Friday evening, it was County Football Training, then on the way home, I dropped Caitlyn off to have a sleepover with Cerys. I came home to burgers with fried onions, made by Dave. I’d fancied that since Dave had fried onions on his burger at Heatherton last week!
Saturday
We spent Saturday doing homework, work, tidying, preparing for the week ahead, and shopping. For tea, we had Rebecca’s choice, Vegan Ramen. Caitlyn had rice and chicken as she doesn’t do vegetables or noodles! The ramen was delicious and it’s such a quick and easy dish to make.

Sunday Football
On Sunday morning, I took Caitlyn to football. As we were planning to go out for the day straight afterwards, I had to take Rebecca and Izzy with me too. Izzy doesn’t mind too much, she’ll sit and watch and draw. Rebecca stayed in the car drawing on her “new to her” iPad- she got a good deal on a refurbished one from Music Magpie. I’m so excited to see the digital art she creates. At football, the other team were short a few players so Caitlyn played one half of the match for the visiting team and the other half for her own, which is pretty typical for Grass Roots and means they all get to play a game that they wouldn’t play otherwise. It was quite strange watching her stop her teammates score a goal though! It was a win for her team anyway as they managed to score during the second half.

Hilton Court Gardens
After football, we grabbed a sandwich from Tesco and headed to Hilton Court Gardens. This has always been one of our favourite places to visit. Sadly, it is closing (as we know it) by the end of the year for the owners to enjoy their well-deserved retirement- we wish them all the best! They are staying open for Weddings, Events and Workshops, but we’ll miss the woodland walk and playhouses. I have a season pass, I wonder how many times I will get to visit before it closes?
We were there all afternoon (blog post coming soon) and had a lovely time as always.
A Cosy Sunday Evening
Then it was back home, for Sunday Dinner. I’d have planned something lighter if I’d realised how warm it was going to be on Sunday.
Then, once Izzy was all ready for bed we cosied up to watch “The Larkins”, I couldn’t tempt the older ones! It was lovely, cosy, Sunday night TV, but my brain kept comparing it to the 90’s “Darling Buds of May” and would have been happy if they’d replayed the “original” really- I loved it!
Dave and I watched “Angela Black” after that.
Now, we have a busy week ahead. It’s the first week since Covid that I’m having to ask Mum and Dave to help with school runs etc as I need to go to Cardiff with Dan, so there’s a lot to remember. Wish me luck!
Did you have a good weekend? What did you get up to?
