Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, somewhere to relax and sleep at the end of a long day. If your current bedroom doesn’t feel calm and comfortable, perhaps you need to declutter and redecorate. You deserve the best, but can you afford it? If the answer is no, the good news is you can create a luxury bedroom on a budget. Read our five top tips for creating a luxury bedroom on a budget:

1. A Luxury Bed
When we redecorate on a budget, often we need to complete the makeover in stages as we save each pot of money. To make a big impact with one change, start with your bed, the focal point of the room. If you need a new bed and fabric beds are to your taste look for an affordable crushed velvet divan set and headboard. This will make your bedroom look divine. If you already have a suitable bed, you can save money by buying a sumptuous velvet headboard. Do spend your money on a good quality mattress as it’s important your body is supported and you get a good night’s sleep.
Luxury Bed Linen
One affordable way to instantly add luxury to your bedroom is to treat yourself to a new duvet cover. There are lots of stunning designs available from high street stores, such as Primark, Dunelm, and George at Asda. They not only look great, but they are also good quality, easy to care for, and available at a pleasing price tag. You can afford to pop a luxury scented candle into your basket too!

2. Luxury Bedroom Walls on a Budget

2. Luxury Bedroom Walls on a Budget
Instantly add luxury to a room with affordable wallpaper. Textured wallpaper prints add warmth, depth, and comfort to the bedroom. They also add a feeling of lushness and luxury. Modern wallpaper is also easy to hang. durable and washable. You can wallpaper the whole room or just one feature wall.

Luxury Painted Bedroom Walls
If you prefer painted walls, consider painting a bold feature wall. To get that professional look, consider using a paint gun. While calming colours are typically associated with lighter hues, this certainly isn’t always the case. Darker shades with cool undertones can transform a space into a cosy cocooned sanctuary.

Wall Panelling
One popular trend at the moment is wall panelling. This technique has been around since the late fifteenth century but it’s currently to be found in all the most Instagram-able homes. Whether you choose full or wall panelling it adds luxury to the room, especially if you choose extra touches like skirting and dado rails carefully. The good news is this expensive looking feature can be made on a budget by using an MDF Wall Panelling Kit.
3. Designer Carpets on a Budget
Regular readers will know that I always prefer tiles in the bathroom, wooden (or laminate) flooring in the living room, and carpet in the bedroom. There’s nothing like a soft, deep pile carpet to add a touch of luxury to the room. Carpets are very soothing, warm, and comfortable to step onto each morning. As the bedroom is a “no shoes” and low footfall zone, you’ll find it’s very low maintenance and will last a long time, making it an affordable investment.

4. Furnish a Luxury Bedroom on a Budget
If you need to completely furnish a bedroom, keep a lookout for second-hand pieces. You will often find complete bedroom sets available during house clearances. I love the vintage dressing tables for sale. Older furniture is often a lot better quality than modern flatpack MDF furniture. If needed you can upcycle by adding a coat of affordable chalk paint and your bargain find will instantly look coordinated and expensive.

5. Accessorise a Luxury Bedroom on a Budget
I’ll repeat again that keeping your room clutter-free will keep it looking sleek and tidy. However, do add a few accessories for a touch of luxury too. A pretty silver tray on top of your dressing table or bedside table keeps it looking tidy. To save money spray paint a charity shop find. A large scented candle will look and smell great. Add greenery to your bedroom. It’s up to you if you choose faux or real. Hang a string of pearls next to your bed, or place a large rubber tree plant (ask friends for a cutting) on the floor or add a few easy to care for succulents on your bedside table. Plants are an inexpensive way to add colour and glamour to the bedroom. If you do choose real plants they will also be good for you, your home and the environment.
