Collaborative Post
Whether you’re a regular traveller or you just like the occasional holiday, making sure your home stays safe and sound whilst you’re away can be a big worry. Maybe you’ve had issues before, or maybe you’re thinking it’s got to be ‘your turn’; after all, you just don’t know what your home might go through when you’re not there, and you want to be sure that such a private place stays exactly that!
And this post is here to help soothe your worries, and give you some actionable ways to help make sure that the front door stays locked and that your valuables are exactly where you left them. It’s not just your travels that have to be safe!

Keep Your Holiday as Private as Possible
If you’re about to head away and you’re super excited about the prospect, it’s a good idea to try and keep as much of the information about where you’re going to a minimum. You may want to post on social media about all the cool and fun things you’re getting up to, or that you plan to do, but you can never be sure who might see them!
One of the best ways to both share your good time online, as well as keep things as private as possible, is to use safety filters. Most social media platforms use these; Facebook is very good at allowing you to define who can see what posts and when. Try to limit holiday ‘pics’ and plans to close friends only.
Change the Locks
Another thing you can do, even if it might be a bit pricey, is to change the locks to your home. Now this would be best done before you come back from your holiday, to ensure that anyone who may be holding a spare key isn’t able to simply let themselves in without your knowledge.
However, you can also contact a locksmith after you come home, if you’re worried about someone obtaining a key whilst you were away, or if a remote alarm tripped and you’re now worried someone knows how to get in. And you can change locks on all doors and windows as well, for extra peace of mind.
Use More Safety Tech
Safety tech is in abundance these days, and it could be of massive help to you whilst you’re away. So, maybe it’s time to get a new burglar alarm fitted? And if you feel like that’s the right fit, try to get one that can connect to your phone.
Similarly, something like a video operated doorbell is another form of front door security that can keep you involved in your home’s safety in real time. You can even talk to anybody who’s at your door or outside your property, and promptly inform them you’re in touch with the authorities (if need be!).
Is your home safe? If you’re about to head off on holiday, make sure your home is ready to keep an intruder out!
