I bring both bad and good news this Sunday. Bad news first, it’s the first week without Call the Midwife on a Sunday as the latest series concluded last week. I’m still rewatching old episodes every Wednesday #togetherapart with family but I am sad the new series is already over. Time goes far too quickly when you’re having fun!
Thankfully, the BBC have good news to cheer us up. A brand new Jimmy McGovern Drama begins tonight (Sunday 6th June) and if the strong cast is anything to go by, we’re in for a treat. I attended a virtual Q and A with the cast on Wednesday (through BBC Tours and Shows) and the sneak peeks we saw looked amazing.

Time, the three-part series starring Sean Bean and Stephen Graham will air weekly on BBC One from Sunday 6 June at 9 pm, with the full series available as a boxset on BBC iPlayer once episode 1 has aired.
Time also stars Siobhan Finneran, Sue Johnston, Hannah Walters (coincidentally also Stephen Graham’s real-life wife), David Calder, Nadine Marshall, Michael Socha, Aneurin Barnard, Jack McMullen and James Nelson-Joyce.
Mark Cobden (Sean Bean) is newly imprisoned, consumed by guilt for his crime, and way out of his depth in the volatile world of prison life. He meets Eric McNally (Stephen Graham), an excellent prison officer doing his best to protect those in his charge. However, when one of the most dangerous inmates identifies his weakness, Eric faces an impossible choice; between his principles and his family. Sean Bean and Stephen Graham star as two men on the edge in this emotional and thrilling portrayal of life in a British prison. What does it take to survive?
I have to admit I would watch anything with these heavyweight actors in it. They always bring truth and realness to the screen (and have the best accents!).
Time is made by BBC Studios Production for the BBC. It was commissioned by Piers Wenger, Director of BBC Drama, and Charlotte Moore, Chief Content Officer. It is directed by Lewis Arnold and executive produced by Tom Sherry and Michael Parke for BBC Studios Production and Lucy Richer for the BBC alongside Jimmy McGovern, Sean Bean and Stephen Graham. The producer is Simon Maloney and the series is distributed internationally by BBC Studios.
Time was filmed in and around Liverpool and secured funding and support from the Liverpool Film Office through the LCR Production Fund. It was very interesting to hear Jimmy McGovern’s thoughts on feeling great responsibility for representing Liverpool on screen due to the negative “Scouse image”. He always writes such dramas with heart.
