Time for a freshen up
It is the start of a brand-New Year and by the looks of it, you will have more time to spend at home in 2021. However, you can certainly turn this into a positive. It is the perfect opportunity to declutter, rearrange and get round to doing all those little DIY jobs that you told yourself you would get round to doing but never really had the opportunity to find time to complete them.
Once you have the desire to redesign one room in your house, then before you know it, you will have the urge to want to redecorate even more rooms once you begin! Perhaps one room at a time though so the entire home does not end up looking like an explosion at a warehouse.
Find time to destress and relax as a mum
When you are a busy mum it is nice to be able to reclaim a small space to yourself once again, where you can enjoy a moment to yourself, perhaps have a little pamper session after a nice relaxing bath, where you can lay back with a face mask on, gentle soothing music in the background, reading a book with a cup of tea in blissful peace.
Once the children are a bit older, they do not suddenly burst into the bedroom quite so much because they fear the rumble of a thunderstorm or just want a cuddle during the night. So, you find you slowly reclaim your bedroom over the years.
Making the best of the space you have
If the main bedroom is not overly large, then perhaps a good solution is to accessorise it with a mirrored bedroom furniture set to create the illusion that it is slightly bigger. Mirrors are certainly great at creating this illusion along with a pale colour backdrop, so either a bedside cabinet, chest of drawers, dressing table or mirrored wardrobe will do the trick.
Quick fix solutions
Simple tricks like having light-coloured curtains, placing a mirror near the window, colour coordinating your accessories to the minimum like only two different colour schemes for the entire room or simply hanging a large piece of artwork above your bed creating a vocal point, will create the illusion of a bigger space, without having to even paint the walls.
Declutter and reorganise
Ideally the less furniture you have in the bedroom the better, but this is not always necessarily a practical solution when you accumulate items over the years with four children and a husband. The best place to start this New Year is to go through various possessions and sort out whether you really need to keep everything. Have a thorough declutter as it will allow you to start afresh if there are items that you do not even need but can either give away to charity or sell second hand on the internet. Your bedroom will thank you.
