Sustainable Living: Small Changes Make a Big Difference
I’ve been feeling guilty recently, that during this time of Covid19, I’ve definitely been neglecting my attempts at sustainable living (and becoming more plastic-free). It’s been a strange time with a lot of worries so I suppose it was natural that I dropped some of my juggling balls if we’re using that analogy. I also found, without being able to go to my choice of shops, I was having to rely on toiletries and cleaning products that wouldn’t have been the eco-friendly options that I would have chosen normally, but we just had to get by. Now, we’re living in this new normal, it’s time for me to take control and start making more green choices again. The great news is, there are small easy ways that we can all make a difference. I’ve recently been introduced to Paperandboo.com, a webshop based in The Netherlands, with the motto, to “improve the world, start with yourself”. Read on to find out more about this company and to find out what easy swaps you can make to go plastic-free:
Sustainable Living with Paper & Boo
The name PAPER & BOO stands for ‘paper and bamboo’. Paper and bamboo are sustainable alternatives to plastic products and packaging materials. Paper & Boo sell a wonderful selection of affordable, great quality and beautiful plastic-free products. Take a look at my selection of favourite plastic-free bathroom products that they sell to help sustainable living:
Sustainable Living Products
Reusable Cotton Pads
Give up wipes and cotton pads and use Reusable Cotton Pads, washable cotton pads are a great way to take your make up off and cleanse your skin every day. They can be easily washed and then, of course, used again, meaning you not only help the environment, you save money in the long run too!
A Cotton Pad Holder
The perfect accessory to accompany your cotton pads is the Bamboo Cotton Pad Holder. Store your clean reusable cotton pads in this beautiful bamboo holder so they’re ready for use in the bathroom.
Bamboo Toothbrush
Swap your plastic toothbrush for one made from sustainable bamboo. Toothbrushes need to be disposed of (and replaced) every three months. That’s a lot of plastic going into landfill. The bamboo toothbrush is up to 96% biodegradable, so you save a lot of plastic. They also sell children’s bamboo toothbrushes and multipacks.
They also sell Ben & Anna’s plastic-free toothpaste, available with or without fluoride.
A Bamboo Razor
Far too many disposable plastic razors go into landfill each year. Change that with a Bamboo Safety Razor. Just replace the blade when you need to (please follow the safety instructions for using and refilling the razor). I love that it is suitable for both men and women with no need for the unfair “pink tax”!
Shampoo Bars and Conditioners
Switching to a shampoo bar and a conditioner, if you need it, is such a great way to cut down on plastic waste. This Coconut Shampoo Bar looks so good. It leaves your hair looking and smelling great and should last up to 80 washes. Swap your bubble bath bottles for a bubble bar and your shower gel for a body bar to save even more plastic.
Bamboo Brush and Comb
When you next need to replace your brush or comb, choose a bamboo option. They look great and are both 100% compostable.
Plastic Free Hand Cream
With the increase in handwashing and sanitising comes the increase in the use of hand cream. Switch your plastic pot for a glass one to keep your hands moisturised while using less plastic.
As you can see with Paper & Boo, it’s easy to swap your everyday items for sustainable plastic-free alternatives that are beautiful and great quality too! All items are animal and cruelty-free. All the packaging is 100% biodegradable.
Which plastic-free products do you use already? Which plastic-free products will you make the switch to?
