If you get injured or feel fatigued after intensive outdoor activity, you can try the Hirudoid cream which can effectively reduce swelling and pain. Take a look at some of the best camping sites in Hong Kong:
Long Ke Wan.
Long Ke Wan is a campsite in a beachfront location. Although getting here is quite challenging, it offers travellers a hiking experience. The campsite is quite large and able to hold a lot of large-sized tents. There is a water source connected to a mountain water fountain. Carry some ropes to tie between tall but slender pine trees to dry your clothes. Winds are pretty strong and yet refreshing and comfortable! Camping here at night feels like living in a paradise under the starry sky, on the sandy beach and in front of a crackling campfire. But remember to watch out for wild animals!
Tai Long Wan.
A remote campsite situated in a peaceful area in front of a sea. Due to its remoteness, Tai Long Wan receives a fewer number of visitors, hence the place remains unpolluted with garbage. Tents are elevated mostly on the slopes but the beach and the fellow grass pits are also suitable to build your tents. Unlike Long Ke Wan, this campsite has plenty of water. On the way to the camping site, there are few BBQ points as well. However, Tai Long Wan campsite is enjoyable and breezy during cool nights!
Pui O
Looking for a campsite to go with your kids? Then, Pui O is the right place for you. It’s an amazing location with a beach in front and a mountain behind. Getting here is very convenient by buses or taxi, and surprisingly, Pui O remains unpolluted. Having some nearby beer and burger bars is another positive thing here. Other than the enormous camping space, it has a lot of facilities such as picnic tables, changing rooms, toilets, BBQ sites and cloth hanging areas. I suggest you select a weekday during the summer season for a peaceful camping experience!
Grass Island
Grassland is one of the most popular campsites in Hong Kong. It is convenient to get here by bus or ferry. This is also called the Tap Mun Island. The Grass Island campsite is located on a hilltop and offers scenic views of the surrounding area. Make sure you bring all your water, food and equipment for the night with you as this place is not much rich in facilities. Therefore locals call it a wild camping site. Its flat grass patches are ideal to pitch your tents. As there are no officially designed campsites you can unfold your tents at any place you wish. If you catch a spot near the cliff edge, wake up early in the morning and see the sunrise with a mug full of coffee in your hands!
Tung Lung Chau
It’s a Utopia, a superb campground which is easily accessible by a ferry. This Island itself also offers some hiking experiences in addition to camping. The camping space in Tung Lung Chau is amazing as it lies between the sea and mountains. Sea breeze tangled with fresh air creates a different chill throughout the campsite. Nights are a bit windy. Although you will find mountain spring water and a few restaurants, don’t expect too many facilities over here. Overall the campsite is a nice escape from the bustling city where the air is not polluted!
Gilwell Campsite
It is an official and an iconic campground in the Kowloon region. Gilwell is an ideal place for scout camping situated on a tall mountain. There are sufficient facilities and lots of space on the campground. Getting here is a bit challenging as you will have to hike through some deep forests. The surrounding environment is clean and tidy. Everyone including children will get a chance to get in touch with nature while enjoying it. Climb up the behind the mountain to catch the best sceneries of the area together with signals to your mobiles!
Nam Shan Campsite
Are you a beginner for camping and looking for a campground? Nam Shan Campsite is the perfect place for you. It’s a superb campsite located in woods with all the necessary facilities. It is very easy to get here even by public transportation. Although daytime is a bit noisy by the sounds of vehicles, nights are totally quiet and peaceful. Infusion of wild animals is very much less here in comparison to other major campsites. BBQ pits open every evening and last till midnight! Overall the campsite is refreshing and enjoyable.
8. Long Coast
Want to go swimming during your camping trip? If so, the Long Coast Campsite is the best place to be. It’s an official and well-equipped campsite found in Lantau Island. It takes the appearance of an African Camping spot! The long beach area is reserved to open your tents. This is a super escape from city life. Daytime is so busy with various watersports. Nights are lively as well with sea wave sounds and hot BBQ pits. Restaurants are found in every corner of the campground.
9. Hok Tau
Looking for a site for family camping? Head to Hok Tau campsite. It’s a campsite with complete facilities standing on a real forested area with some pleasant hiking trails. Weekends are fully occupied here. Nature lovers would acquire more happiness at Hok Tau campsite. Although water sources are scattered everywhere, winter season may block a few of them. The surrounding environment is immaculate, clean and unpolluted. The campground is big enough to hold more than 20 large-sized tents.
10. Sai Yuen
It is a perfect place for those who like to experience a bit of nature but wouldn’t be much better for those who appreciate the comfort and convenience of the city. Sai Yuen is a well-managed campsite that offers a lot of activities for kids as well as elders like climbing, archery or just watching the sunset over the sea.
