A few weeks ago we returned to Mountain Farm, Broad Haven, just in time to see the end of the sunflowers. I was about to share the post when I realised that I hadn’t actually shared a post showing the sunflower field in full bloom yet which would be useful (and pleasing to the eye!). So here are snapshots of our visit to The Sunflower Field, Mountain Farm, Broad Haven from last summer:
Visiting The Sunflower Field, Mountain Farm, Broad Haven
The sunflower field can be found at Mountain Farm in Broad Haven in Pembrokeshire (SA62 3HU). Follow signs for Broad Haven until you start seeing Sunflower signs then follow them instead. They are only displayed when the sunflower field is open to the public, of course. As to be expected when visiting a farm, the road is narrow but they have cleverly organised one way in and another road exit out. Whenever we’ve visited it’s been quiet and there have been plenty of places to park.
Pick Your Own Sunflowers
We arrived out of hours but there was an honesty box where we could pay for our sunflowers and wildflowers (this year they were selling bags of sunflower seeds too). There were also secateurs to borrow to easily cut the flowers. During our visit this year, of course, there were added hand sanitisation stations.
Beautiful Flowers
We followed the paths and made our way around the beautiful fields of sunflowers. I would be happy just to pay a few pounds in the honesty box and take a walk around the field without even buying any flowers to take home. it’s such a stunning spot for a walk.
Wildlife in the Sunflower Fields
It is a beautiful nature walk. Look out for minibeasts and wildlife amongst the sunflowers. We spotted bees, loving the sunflower pollen, butterflies and ladybirds. Look out for field mice too.
The sunflowers are huge! They tower above us and their heads are larger than our faces! It was hard to find little ones to fit into a vase (a good problem to have, I’m not complaining!).
Walking around the sunflower field you can’t help but smile, and sometimes, they smile back!
Family Portraits in the Sunflowers
The kids loved posing for photos with the sunflowers. I love the natural ones of them poking their head from behind a sunflower etc. I see many families dress up ready to take stunning family photos when at the sunflower field. As always, ours was an impromptu visit, but it would be a great place to plan a family photoshoot.
Nothing to see here. Just one man, and his dog (and his kids) running through a sunflower field.
As the sun began to set on the majestic sunflowers, our sea view became mesmerisingly beautiful. It would be a lovely place to bring a picnic and if quiet lay a blanket on the floor by the car (if busy you could take the picnic to the beach instead).
It was time to go and we made our way out, through the exit and into Broad Haven for Pizza on the Beach from Sunshine Italian and then back home. Such a perfect evening.
I’ll share our photos from our most recent visit to the Sunflower field soon!
Do you love sunflowers? Do you grow them? Do you have a sunflower field near you?
