Collaborative Post
Family holidays shouldn’t just be for the immediate family. Once upon a time, you had to wait until you got back from a holiday before you divulged the information, about what you got up to. It was something of a chore because you never really got to tell all your loved ones, the stories of what your children did while abroad, the funny and interesting moments you shared, etc. it was the photo album that got the most attention as it was the main prop in your storytelling. Nowadays this has all changed. You can keep in contact with family while you’re on holiday and even show them what you got up to during the day.
Livestream your adventures
Perhaps you have ageing grandparents that don’t get up to much anymore, but they would like to see what you do. Live streaming your family adventures using Periscope, Facebook Live, YouTube or Twitch is a great and free way to take them with you. Show them how to use these websites and set up a bookmark link for them to your page. You will need to set up an account first. Then wherever you go live, your grandparents will receive an email notification that you’re now filming. There’s a section for them to write comments while they’re watching, so you can answer some of their questions. It’s a great way to take your loved ones on a journey and enjoy the things you’re doing. Since all of your live streams will save automatically, they become a living video album, you can access anytime you want.
Still in touch
One of the worries holiday goers have is not being able to receive their mail. It’s almost impossible to inform everyone you know what you won’t be at home for a certain period of time. But they will still send mail to your home. By directing them to a virtual physical address, they can send their mail and have it accepted by you, even while you’re not at home. The company has an in-house team which is fantastic because your mail won’t be shipped out to a third party who could be compromised. At their building, they will open and scan your mail, then send it to you directly via email or SMS. When you get the mail, you can then decide to reply to it or not. The company will destroy the mail once you’ve received it, so bank statements and healthcare profiles don’t get used by criminals.
Automated uploads
On the first day of your holiday, you’ll want to snap and share photos of where you and what you’re doing. But eventually, you’ll get settled in and find the process of finding photos and uploading them yourself to be a bore. Using an app like Snapbridge, whatever photos you take, automatically upload to your social media. Anyone following your Instagram account will see exactly what you’re up to. You just need to take a photo and the app will do the rest.
If you want to inform all your family what your immediate family is up to while on holiday, live streaming is the most informative and modern way.
A really interesting post with new services for me to explore further. I had never heard of Periscope before. Thank you.
