Collaborative Post
2020 is a new year, a new decade and time for a new start. After a tough beginning to 2020, I needed some quotes to inspire me and get me on track again. Take a look and see if they inspire you. Maybe you can follow my tips and make your own inspirational quote images to share on social media or even print out to look at every day in your home. Read on to find out where to find free fonts, free images and editing software to make your high quality social media designs:
I Can See Clearly Now…
I’ve seen many people play on the 20/20 vision and the year 2020 joke! For me having 20/20 vision in 2020 means seeing things clearly this year. I’m really going to take a good look at the situation I’m in and therefore act accordingly. Of course I didn’t walk around with my eyes closed in 2019 but I have to admit I didn’t take time to stop and see what was happening. I feel like I let the year “happen” to me instead of taking control. Not this year.
2020 is the year to see clearly and act accordingly.
Diary of the Evans-Crittens
I made all the designs in this post using Canva, a graphic design tool that offers free and paid-for features. I sourced the free photographs on Unsplash, a high-quality photo download site. For the above quote, I sourced the two main fonts on Fontbundles.net, a site that allows you to save money on fonts and also find free fonts to try before you buy. Customers can get a new font free every week. It’s important to use different fonts in your social media posts. Here, I have deliberately typed 2020 in a bold font (Neon Light) to make the year stand out separately from the rest of the quote (Daybreak). I always use the same font to type out my blog name as a watermark to make it more recognisable.
Do Something New!
In 2020, I want to be brave, make changes and do new things. Following on from the last point, I can’t just roll along this year I have to be more proactive. They say time appears to go more quickly when you keep on doing the same thing every day. My life seems to be moving so fast and I really want to stop it slipping away by trying lots of new things.
If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.
Tony Robbins
In the above quote I have used a lovely script font (Tatima) to type the quote and an everyday font to write the quote author’s name. Where the quote has a known author, it’s important to credit them.
Without Rain, there is no Rainbow
In an ideal world, I’d love life to just be happiness and rainbows but that isn’t realistic. Unfortunately, there is always going to be sadness in all of our lives, We can never stop the Yin and Yang of life. Where there are births, there are deaths and without death, all life would lose meaning. I need to remember that we all have to ride the rough with the smooth and it’s not just me going through bad times because I’m failing at life, it’s just LIFE. I need to stop blaming myself for everything. It’s how we deal with things that count. I need to stop worrying, as that doesn’t solve anything, and be proactive and try to make things better instead. Most importantly, I need to enjoy the rain and the rainbows in life (actually that is one thing I am good at doing!). The hard times really do make us appreciate the good.
If you want the rainbows, you gotta put up with the rain.
I loved making this design as I love anything rainbow! I used Neon Light again but this time changed each letter to a different colour of the rainbow. Changing the size and colour of a font can make a big difference to your designs too. The main quote is typed in Decorater, a brush font and “Rain” is typed in Rain Love, a calligraphy font.
