This Personal Planner and the competition prize have been gifted for purposes of review
This September Danny started at college. As readers know we were told that he wouldn’t be able to go to school so to see him heart healthy and well enough to go to college is a huge privilege. We are very lucky. He had lots of struggles at school but so far college seems to be going really well. He’s matured so much recently and I believe he was ready for this change. When Personal Planner asked me to review a planner it was so tempting to personalise a new one for myself (since discovering them at Brit Mums many years ago I’ve always used them) but I knew it would be the perfect “good luck at college” gift for Danny.
Read on to see the planner I personalised for him and our thoughts- there’s also a chance to win a voucher so you can design and own a personal planner of your own:
Designing a Personal Planner
Designing your Personal Planner is really fun and easy. First choose between a Planner, Wall Planner or Notebook. I chose a Classic A5 Planner for Danny as I find this size perfect for college and work. Next you get to personalise the cover, customise the inlay and choose the extra pages you require. If you’re unsure or short on time you can now even buy a ready made planner and just add your own name to it.
The Cover
I browsed the cover designs. If there wasn’t a design that I felt was right for him then I was going to upload a photo. However, as soon as I spotted this night time forest design I knew he’d love it as it reminds him of his favourite hobby- camping in the woods.
Monthly Overview
I added a Monthly Overview which is a handy way to plan monthly.
Weekly Layout
In my own planners I like to space the days over both pages so I have lots of space for each day. I knew that Danny would benefit from having a weekly page for notes instead so I opted for this layout and added lines to each day and to the opposite page. I kept the suggested dark forest pattern to compliment the overall design of the planner.
There is the option to add a work, weather and or workout elements to each day of the week if you wish. I just went for a “Work” box.
Ruler Colour
There are six different colour rulers to choose from. I chose clear for this planner. You can add extra rulers too if you like. I actually keep my old rulers from my out of date planners as I like having a couple of place markers in my own planner- one for this month, this week and one for my notes.
Choosing Modules
Quotes
There are eighteen different modules to choose from to place across the bottom of your weekly planner, from meal planning to colouring in. For Danny I chose a “Quotes” module which I hope will help encourage him at college.
To Do List
I also chose a “To Do” list module as I always find this useful for myself.
Tune of the Week
I also added “Tune of the Week” as he’s really into music at the moment and I thought it would be interesting for him to look back at what songs he loved during this time of life in the future. I may add this to mine next time but there are too many good modules to choose from!
Calendar
He also has a monthly overview calendar on each page.
Personal Dates
There is also the option to add personal dates to your planner. I have my dates stored on Personal Planner so each year I can easily add them to my new planner. I chose not to add personal dates to Danny’s planner as he wanted to do this himself.
Back Pages
Lastly, in your Personal Planner you get to choose your back pages from manuscript paper to colouring pages. I chose maps for Danny so he can plan his future travels.
I also chose squared paper pages.
Finally, I chose lined paper for extra note making.
Stickers
All Personal Planners come with a set of stickers that can be used to customise and organise the planner too.
Plastic Wallet
These can be stored in the handy plastic wallet at the back of the planner along with other notes, tickets, letters and receipts etc.
Danny loves his planner and it’s really helped him to keep organised at college.

Great Prize
It has everything !! Totally personal to the recipient – spoilt for choice
To Do list.
I love the quotes! It’s so cool how personalised you can make it.
Looks a great planner thanks!
Even when I know I’ll remember my appointments, it’s good to write everything down just in case! Even the to do lists need a little reminding at times!
My favourite feature is a weekly planner so that I can see at a glance how the week looks.
having lots of space to write down notes and reminders
Things to do this week
i love the stickers to personalise it
I love the detailed maps, they are really useful
i think the stickers and plastic wallet is a great shout! things wouldnt get lost then!
I love the ‘To Do’ list section.
Stickers look fun
i love the tune of the week bit
I love the To Do list
The colouring pages! When I am on the phone I tend to scribble little pictures or colour things in especially if i have been sitting with the phone glued to my ear for long periods of time. So these pages would keep the rest of the planner in tip top condition rather than a mess of little scribbles.
It is surprising how effective in life that a little planning makes. The personalisation is fab and the stickers are helpful.
The “to do list” section is a great idea x
Love the To Do list
I like to record what I ate each day and what exercise I did.
I like that I can add all my birthdays to it, with a big family like mine there is a lot of them

The planner looks very helpful with sticker reminders
I love that there is a to do list which would really help me for work and home i.e. SEND BIRTHDAY CARDS (which i always forget! )
