This week we’ve been pirate spotting in Llangwm as villagers display their pirate themed scarecrow entries in the annual Llangwm Scarecrow Competition. The Pirate Scarecrows will be on display until Llangwm Carnival Day on Saturday 13th July. Take a look at the pirates we found- let us know where you’ve found others:
We gave the kids two challenges- firstly to find as many Scarecrows as they could and secondly to see who could have the most photos taken with a different scarecrow.
Up on The Gail (just up the road from “The Cottage” (Sat Nav: SA62 6HH) we found our first entry, “Gone Fishing”.
“The Pirates of the Gail, Hooray and Up Gail Rises!”
“Pie Rat of the Caribbean”.
“Video Piracy”.
“Gail Force 10”.
“Elizabeth Swan! Pretty and Fearless, Pirates of the Caribbean”.
A Pirate and his treasure.
We looked up and spotted a pirate up high on the house.
A pirate’s parrot was also spotted up high.
I’d love to know the title of this scarecrow- “Captain Purple Beard”, perhaps?
We let “Sleeping Pirates” lie as we passed the old school house.
We also spotted a few friendly cats.
“Pirate Ted”.
Next we headed up to River View (SA62 4JW).
The group entry was hard to miss. Very impressive. “The Black Tar”.
Around the corner we spotted “Black Bart”.
On our way out of Llangwm we spotted “Ooh! Aah! Where’s Me Ship?”
We’re also been told to look out for “Hook of the Hideaway” at Port Lion.
What other scarecrows have you spotted around Llangwm? We’d love to know.
We had a lovely evening, the scarecrows were amazing and fun to walk around and find. A visit to Llangwm is always bittersweet for us as it brings back so many memories of our dad, but we really should try and visit more. Cerys spotted a white feather while we were there too.
