My niece, “cousin Cerys” has just turned 11. This means the older girl cousins are now aged 10, 11 and 12 respectively until September when Caitlyn will “catch up” with Cerys for a few months! We celebrated with a long overdue visit to Blue Lagoon and a picnic at Higgons Well. Here are some photos from our day:
The kids had lots of fun at Blue Lagoon (thanks Ceri and Lexy), they love the lazy river, the waves and the slides for the older kids.
Higgons Well
Then we drove back to Haverfordwest (Harford to me!) for a picnic and cake at Higgons Well. It’s such a pretty spot to play and rest and there is a lovely riverside walk, leading to a church, too.
I love the unicorn cake!
We were there until early evening but it still felt like daytime due to these lovely long, light days. Ceri and Lexy had to drive back to Newport as their weekend stay had come to an end so we had to say “proper” goodbyes. The next time we see them they will have been to New York so it’s very exciting!
The Rath
On the day of Cerys’ birthday we met up after school for a chippy tea on the Rath and more cake. During Spring and Summer we love our “tea down the Rath” evenings so it was great to enjoy the first one of the year with family.
We picked Gordon Bennett’s Traditional Fish and Chips for our food and it was lovely.
We enjoyed the stunning sea views while the kids enjoyed playing hide and seek and rolling down the big hills (always fun).
For this occasion there was a beautiful, bright rainbow cake!
Again, it was a lovely evening. Once the light evenings come, we try to make the most of them as a family but haven’t done that well this year for a number of reasons. Hopefully we’ll do more from this point forwards. Thanks for inviting us to celebrate your birthday Cerys (thanks to Jo too) – we hope you enjoyed your celebrations! xxx
