You may have noticed but it’s been Halloween! The kids love celebrating Halloween with our friends and family and this year we did it twice! We had a “Pumpkin Picking Party” on Saturday while Aunty Ceri was home and we also celebrated Halloween on October 31st (of course). Here are some snapshots of what we got up to:
First we popped around to Great Granny and Grampys. Granny enjoyed looking at the kid’s costumes and took photos to show her friends. Rebecca was a “Scare Queen”. Rather than asking for a “Trick or Treat” the kids instead gave Granny and Grampy a treat- a spooky biscuit- although they were given plenty of treats in return!
Caitlyn was a Werewolf (partly inspired by her love of dogs I think!).
Isabelle was a glow in the dark skeleton.
I’m so glad I managed to get a family picture of Great Granny, Great Grampy and all the kids (plus an extra friend). Just as we walked into Great Grampy’s it began to pour with rain, as we went to leave it just stopped…we were very lucky!
Next we popped to Granny and Grampy’s house. Again we gave them a biscuit and as you can see the kids got lots in return- their buckets were starting to fill already! When we used to go trick or treating down our street as children we would have one bucket or witches hat to collect all the treats in. Then once we got back to the last house we would sit down and divide up all the sweets and money!
Later we went to Nanny’s house to meet up with cousin Cerys and play some party games. Danny also met up with his friend here and spent some time with us before going to his friend’s house. It’s great when we can compromise and let him do things on his own with friends but also make sure that family (and ourselves!) still get to spend time with him too.
The kids had a pinata (they’re going through a phase at the moment and want one for every party!). Rebecca did plan to make pumpkin pinatas over half term but in the end she was too busy to wait for the papier-mache to dry. We will make them one day!
Danny didn’t dress up but he did make a “Thomas the Tank Engine” mask for fun (which was quite unintentionally creepy actually!). He put that on as he entered the party and DJ Caitlyn played the theme tune which had us all in stitches!
We also played Pass the Parcel to our favourite Halloween songs.
The girls enjoyed decorating biscuits.
They looked and tasted great!
Nanny and all her grandchildren (see what I mean about the “Thomas” mask!).
They are a scary bunch!
The kids and I (can you spot me in this photo twice?).
Later the kids all bobbed for apples (and onions). As Caitlyn is still so adverse to fruit she actually prefers to catch an onion!
We had so many games that we forgot to play them all! Oops! But they had a great time, especially Izzy who kept declaring it was the best day ever! I asked why and she explained “Because we get to dress up, eat sweets and see family.” I asked out of those three what was her favourite part and she said seeing family (right answer, Izzy!).
We also had food, watched some Halloween Shrek and played on the Wii.
It was lots of fun- thank you to all our family for making it a great day! xxx
