Caitlyn turned 10 on Friday. In the morning she had time to open a few presents and blow out her candles on her waffles and then she was off to school. She was excited about this as Friday is Golden Time and she loves taking a cake into school to share with her school friends.
She did have a cake later– honest!
After school we went bowling and had pizza with friends and family. There was one huge surprise for Caitlyn. A few months ago her friend moved away. It broke her heart and she cried every night as she missed him. He travelled back to our town to celebrate her birthday with her! It was so lovely to see them together again.
There was quite a party atmosphere while bowling as Phoenix Bowl now run Neon Bowling every night on request. It was very cool and made the bowling shoes look pink! After bowling and pizza, there was more cake!
We are so lucky that after a tough few weeks Mum is home from hospital and was well enough to come out and celebrate with us. We were especially lucky to have Granny and Grampy too and even two of her great grand parents with us (not to mention the lovely Aunt’s and Uncles!).
Caitlyn was so pleased that her friend was staying down for another night.
On Saturday, we went to the Dinosaur Park with friends and family. I’ll do a full post about this soon as there is so much to do there.
The weather stayed dry and both adults and kids had a fun day playing at the park.
On Saturday night we watched a film at home- Caitlyn’s been looking forward to watching Marley and Me since reading the book recently- and enjoyed some of her birthday sweets and chocolates!

So happy I finally got to see #mamamiaherewegoagain with all my girls! #evansgirls #cinema #familytime #365daychallenge @evanscrittenmum @fullfreakingcircle @cerys_unicorn @bex05bex
We spent Sunday morning getting everything ready for school and doing homework. Then Sunday afternoon we finally watched “Mamma Mia- Here We Go Again!” at the cinema. The last time we tried to watch it poor mum ended up going into hospital so we were very grateful to have the chance to watch it altogether at last.
As huge fans of Mamma Mia we loved the sequel and came out singing and dancing (and haven’t stopped yet…). We can’t wait for the Singalong. I am very sad about Donna’s story though and wish that had been explained more (trying to not give spoilers away for those who haven’t yet seen it!).
It was a lovely weekend and I have to admit with full on weeks I’m living for our family weekends at the moment!
How did your weekend go? I hope your week is going well!
