When it comes to family getaways, Italy can make the perfect destination for the whole family to enjoy. The country offers endless variety and you’ll be sure to find the perfect combination for your family; whether you’re into adventure holidays or would prefer to escape to a beach for a week, Italy has it all. There really is something for everyone. If you really want to enjoy what Italy has to offer, then why not try to squeeze in a couple of destinations in one trip. You can easily get around the country – from driving to trains and domestic flights. Below are four of the best family friendly destinations, perfect for a summer break!  

 Lake Garda 


Known for its crystal-clear water and beautiful scenery this lake has a lot to offer when it comes to a family getaway. The lake is great for families looking to take on more of an adventure, with plenty of water sports options, including wind surfing, boating and paddle boarding. To add variety to your stay at Lake Garda, there are some great attractions nearby that can be on interest to the whole family. There are also great links to local medieval towns such as Verona, the famous setting of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. There’s also a huge 1st-century Roman amphitheatre which still hosts concerts, worth checking out to see if you can catch something in this impressive venue.

Amalfi Coast  


This 50km stretch of coastline is known for its sheer cliffs, multi-coloured fishing villages and rugged shorelines. Positano is one of the most well-known destinations within the area, with its dramatic and charming houses overlooking the sea. There are some glamourous beaches nearby too, so if you want to unwind from exploring all the steep streets then this is the place. The Spiaggia Grande is a 300m stretch of beach, attracting an impressive crowd of artists, actors and celebrities. If you’re children are a little older then this destination might be a nice balance between relaxing and exploring.

The capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, the city is built on over 100 small islands, creating this magnificent city.
