There are so many great cruelty free and vegan beauty products available so I’ve decided to start doing roundups of my favourite products each month. Here are my beauty favourites for July:
Fairypants Cuticle Oil
In summer, I generally skip painting my nails as I tend to spend my days outdoors or getting crafty with the kids getting my hands dirty (which isn’t compatible with tidy painted nails!). I still like my nails to “feel nice” though so instead I fall into a routine of buffing, filing and rubbing in cuticle oil. My favourite is Fairypants Vegan Nail Care Cuticle Oil (10ml, £3.99). This luxurious nail oil contains Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Rice Extract, Vitamin B5, Vitamin E, Geranium Essential Oil, Rose Essential Oil, Citral, Citronellol, Limonene and Eugenol, Geraniol, Linalool and smells gorgeous. This routine will get my nails into good condition ready for painting berry nail colours in autumn.
Pixi-Pixi & Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse
I ordered the Double Cleanse Solid Cleansing Oil & Cleansing Cream (2x50ml, £24.99) as soon as it was released. I was so excited to try a cleansing product from Caroline Hirons and I was not disappointed. My only negative is that it costs more than I would usually spend on a cleanser. However, this ingenious two step cleansing ritual is the perfect way to deep clean your complexion. First use the solid cleansing oil (a beautiful blend of conditioning vitamin E, omega-rich camellia oil to enhance elasticity and healing evening primrose), to dissolve surface dirt, neutralise pollutants and break down make up and sunscreen (especially handy at this time of year). Then follow with the luxurious cleansing cream which contains a unique cocktail of vitamin C, arginine and peptide complex which combine to promote collagen, encourage renewal and diminish the look of fine lines. My skin feels great using this cleanser and it surprisingly lasts a very long time. Due to the price, it won’t be a permanent staple in my skincare routine but will definitely be purchased again as a treat.
Organic Rose Geranium Body Butter
I bought this Organic Rose Geranium Body Butter (100g, £6.99) from Heavenly Organics at The Absolutely Fabulous Vegan Fayre in Carmarthen. I’m really sad that I’ve finished my pot and need to order more. I want to try lots of other products from this range eventually too. It has a gorgeous turkish delight scent, melts on your skin and makes it feel so soft. It’s a great price for a product full of such high quality organic ingredients: Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) tree butter organic, Extra Virgin Olea Europaea (Olive) fruit oil organic, Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) oil organic Citral*, Limonene*, Linalool*. *Occurring naturally in essential oils.
Superdrug Vitamin E SPF Moisturising Day Cream
I needed to find an affordable vegan and cruelty free Moisturiser to pack for holiday. I found the Vitamin E SPF Moisturising Day Cream (100ml, £2.99) in Superdrug and picked up the Nourishing Night Cream too. At those prices I’d planned to just use them for the holiday and not bring home (to make room for souvenirs in my suitcase!). However, they are great moisturisers so I changed my mind and packed them for home. A little goes a well, they’re great for my skin and still going strong. The day cream provides 24-hour moisturisation has been specifically developed to hydrate, nourish and protect your skin against the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. Enriched with naturally sourced Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that will help to shield your skin against environmental damage and premature skin ageing by combating the harmful effects of free radicals. In other Superdrug news their vegan cruelty free brand, B. Skincare and B. Makeup is back. I’ve been waiting (impatiently) for so long so I can’t wait to buy from this range again soon!
M&S Summer Rose Eau de Parfum
One of my favourite perfumes is the Rosie Eau de Parfum (30ml, £14.99) but when I went to pick up a bottle for my holiday I was convinced to try the Summer Rose Eau de Parfum (30ml, £14.99 or 75ml, £28) edition and I’m glad I did. A green, airy scent, summer rose has fruity blossom top notes of aromatic blackcurrant and fresh pear. The heart opens to a romantic blend of red rose centifolia, delicate jasmine and bright lily of the valley. Resting on a sumptuous bed of sandal, moss and musk. I bought the smaller size as I was packing light so I’ve already finished the bottle. I will definitely repurchase this summer rose fragrance again and then return to the original scent this autumn- it’s gorgeous!
