Trying to choose the best flooring for your home? In this guest post, Megan explains why she thinks vinyl flooring is a great option:
Vinyl flooring has seen a rise in popularity over the years, so much so that it is even outselling the likes of the more traditional ceramic tiles, laminate and wood flooring.
So, what is vinyl flooring? Well, let’s start at the beginning. Vinyl flooring is made from polyvinyl chloride, or PVC to the likes of you and I! This is where the name ‘Vinyl’ is derived from; you see, you learn something new every day.
Vinyl has changed a lot over the years, becoming more durable and easier to install whilst evolving into a more environmentally friendly method of flooring, all of which will contribute to the demand.
But why is vinyl so popular?
Vinyl is much softer than other flooring options like wood or tiles since it contains a thin layer of either felt or form. The softness of the floor is hugely appealing to parents who can be reassured that should their little ones take a tumble then their fall will be nicely cushioned!
If you’re working towards a budget then vinyl may be the perfect choice for you. Because it is mass-produced using lower cost materials it tends to be a lot more affordable than other flooring options. Fear not though, just because vinyl is cheaper does not mean that it lacks in quality!
Vinyl is incredibly easy to maintain, it is both dust and water-resistant which means than it can be kept in premium condition by simply vacuuming or mopping as often as you see fit. Unlike other flooring, it does not require finishing once it has been installed, nor will it need to be sanded or stained after a certain amount of time. Simply fit it and enjoy.
Vinyl has a top layer applied to it which in turn makes the floor pressure-resistant, meaning that as well as being incredibly versatile it is also very durable and can withstand heavy foot traffic – ideal if you’re in a busy household.
There might have been a time where vinyl was seen as a limited option, this is no longer the story! These days, vinyl is available in an array of colours, patterns and textures. So, whatever look you’re hoping to achieve, this can be easily done!
There you have it, why we think Vinyl is a great option for any home!
