After Christmas, I look forward to real winter weather. Those icy cold mornings when Jack Frost has painted everything white, the magic “smoke” made when you breathe hot air out into the cold and taking the first crunchy steps on the thick blanket of fresh frost upon the grass.
We were lucky enough to experience this weather, when we last stayed at Bluestone Wales, during a winter break. The sun shone brightly, while the icy mist created a mystical atmosphere and made Bluestone appear as beautiful as a painting.
We enjoyed many winter walks.
We explored nature along the way.
There were plenty of ice puddles to crack and the whole lake was frozen over.
We were still able to keep warm in the Blue Lagoon Water Park- going around the tropical lazy river on an icy (and especially a snowy day, as we’ve done before in the past) is an experience to remember. There is also the adventure centre with crazy golf, LEGO and indoor play area for more warm fun too. The village pub, The Knight’s Tafarn, has an open fire where you can relax and enjoy a hearty Pembrokeshire meal.
The lodges are perfect for returning to after a winters walk- there is porch space for boots, wellies and coats. There are heaters in every room so the lodge is cosy and warm and facilities to make a comforting hot chocolate and hot food too. We stayed in a Dinas Lodge, with space for up to 8 people.
We also enjoyed sledging on the Preseli’s and a walk around Bosherton Lily Ponds. Pembrokeshire beaches are great all year round too.
January Breaks start at just £119. You could kick start the family’s fitness regime by cycling around the Pembrokeshire Countryside or treat yourself to a Spa treat at The Well Spa Retreat and warm and cleanse your body in the thermal suites (that sounds bliss to me right now). For more ideas of what to do when visiting Pembrokeshire, remember to click my “Pembrokeshire” tag at the top of this blog.
If you also live locally to Bluestone then remember that out of season is the perfect time to visit Blue Lagoon as the tickets are currently the best price.
You can now take advantage of Bluestone’s latest offer: £25 off a 3, 4 or 7 night self catering break.
We were guest of Bluestone Wales, but all views and opinions are our own.
