Like most teens, Danny loves to skateboard and over the years has had a couple of boards that we’ve picked up in toy and cheap shops. As he’s got older, he’s wanted a better board to be able to practise more tricks on, so he was very happy to receive a Plain Lazy Skateboard to review.
He chose the Plain Lazy Green Retro Cruiser Complete Skateboard. The 22” cruiser is lightweight and easy to carry. It’s great for skateboarding for travel and also for tricks in the skate park.
We are lucky to have a small skate park within our community play park. Usually, I go off playing with the younger girls while Danny skates with his friends. We also have a larger skate park in Haverfordwest. Danny’s looking forward to being allowed to get the bus there on his own with his mates. We’ll be able to watch them skateboard on their web cam!
In the park, he skated down (and up) the ramps.
He did ollies and kickflips (I need to get faster at photographing these!).
He practised hippy jumps and turns over the bar.
There’s always a great community and atmosphere from other skateboarders. Personally, I always get embarrased learning new practical skills in front of people, but every skateboarder I’ve ever met remembers what it was like to begin and they always give new learners respect and also great advice too. All skateboarders are still always pushing themselves to learn more. They say about the art of skateboarding: it takes a minute to learn but a lifetime to master.
Danny is on warfarin due to his heart condition so it’s important for him to wear his helmet and protection pads so he’s prepared for the inevitable falls when skating.
Danny was also sent this Adrenaline Junkie Sand T-Shirt, which sums him up very well! The colour goes well with the camo print he loves to wear too.
Danny finds his new Plain Lazy board easier to skate with. It’s strong but very flexible. He likes the style of it and the bright colour. The plastic is easy to keep clean which is great as it’s already needed to be cleaned quite a few times (we’re in wet muddy season here in Wales). Danny finds it a lot more intuitive to skate than his previous boards, the moveable trucks make it easier to turn and the wheels give a faster, smoother ride. If I’d realised earlier the difference a high quality skateboard could make then I would have bought one for him sooner. The moulded board gives good grip- perfect for keeping hold of when practising jumps.
Having such a cool new board has definitely reignited his passion for skateboarding. He’s looking at getting a longboard now as well! I love the Plain Lazy range of fun t-shirts and hoodies too.
-Another quote to remember when skateboarding, is, “You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to get great.”
Thanks to Plain Lazy for sending Danny the skateboard and tee. For your chance to win a Plain Lazy tee upload a photo and show them your #plainlazy moment!
