After marching on Remembrance Sunday, it was time to celebrate Nanny’s birthday at Frankie and Benny’s. Off we drove to Carmarthen, which meant Ceri could come too (it’s about halfway between our home towns).
I always have a lovely time when I visit Carmarthen and really should do it more often. There is plenty of reasonable priced parking at St Catherine’s Walk (£1.70 for two hours). But the best part is the car park is right next to the shops and restaurants. As it turned out Frankie and Benny’s was a great choice as they had a special offer of kids eat free for Bonfire Weekend. For every adults main meal we had a kids meal free. As we were a party of five adults and five children, this worked out perfectly. The kids meals are great value anyway, especially as they include a drink and dessert (when you become a parent you suddenly start noticing how expensive soft drinks can be when eating out!).
Big brother Danny was really good keeping Izzy entertained while we waited for our food. He helped her with her activity books and colouring. Sometimes he can be a difficult pre teen, but times like this I’m reminded what a kind, caring lad he really is.
Izzy’s growing up so fast too. She comes to me with “proper” drawings now of people and houses. It doesn’t seem long ago that she was practising squiggles and lines!
The girls also enjoyed working through their books.

We all enjoyed our food. With the Remembrance day rush, I didn’t have a chance to eat any breakfast, so I was very hungry by the time it came to eat. I enjoyed a veggy burger. Danny and the girls had pizza. Danny enjoyed this as he was allowed to add three toppings, so of course one of his choices was hot chilli! Then the kids all had Ice Cream Sundaes and Brownie Sundays. Delicious!
It was a lovely day. I love weekends and family time. Here’s to the next one!
