Ooh, some days, I’d give anything to have a spare £100 in my pocket, just to get tea, stock the cupboards, fill the car up with diesel and maybe have enough change leftover for a bottle of wine. To be honest there are so many things that could be done with that amount of money, it can be hard to decide on the final spend so you feel you’ve really made the most of it.

Well, when TSB asked me what I would do with a spare £100 (which is the maximum interest you can earn from the TSB Plus Current Account (5% AER on up to £2000)) I did consider saying I’d save it or donate it to a favourite charity such as Little Hearts Matters or The Stroke Association, but then I remembered that I had actually muttered those four words “If I had a spare £100…” to my mum a few days ago when I realised that I haven’t yet bought our Double Bubble Season pass for Anna’s Welsh Zoo (Manor Park to us locals).
I usually buy them as soon as the previous passes run out, in late December or early January but haven’t got round to it yet this year. There have been a few weekends where I’ve thought about going there with the family, but when I remember I haven’t yet got our ticket so would have to pay nearly £100, instead we go somewhere free or cheap to save our pennies. However, once we have our season passes for this wonderful place, we always make the most of our time there and for the happy memories it will give us all year long, it really is priceless.
As well as my own happy childhood memories visiting there, I’ve seen all my children growing up over the years we’ve visited there.
We’ve celebrated many birthdays there, with all the extended family too.
It’s where Danny learnt to ride a bike and eventully progressed to a two wheeler…
He also had an amazing Meet the Species experience with Steve, Lisa and Bryn the gibbons.
We have played on the green…
Got up close with all of the animals…
Admired the fauna…
Met a famous author…
Watched some local bands…
Played together…
Seen lonely gibbon Steve, first find a love, Lisa then begin to enjoy life outdoors of a small cage. We then have all watched baby Bryn grow up over the years too.
Enjoyed the delicous food and drink, espcially a hot chocolate by the fire to warn us up on a cold day.
I was expecting to pay for Isabelle this year as she is now three, but she has another free year to go- the lucky thing! So for two adults and three children our Double Bubble will come to £107.50, so would cost our spare £100 and a litte bit more, but will be more than worth it. I will definitely be buying it as soon as possible to get my money’s worth for the rest of this year!
I will also still contribute to LHM and The Stroke Association, as my stroke survivor sister is bravely taking part in her first walk/run event this month so I will be supporting her!
TSB have also drawn up an inforgraphic of other things that get better over the years, as our savings do:
