Here come the Twirlywoos!
Since having kids, CBeebies has become a part of our family life. Danny loved watching the Teletubbies and passed all his cuddly and bath toys onto his sisters. Rebecca and Caitlyn loved In the Night Garden. They had the toys, jigsaws, dressing up and lots of books and DVDs. These have now been passed onto Izzy who loves them but also has a favourite CBeebies show of her own…
The Twirlywoos starts today on Cbeebies at 9.25am and 1.25pm. The morning show will be perfect timing for Izzy to watch when we get back from the school run. She has been watching the previews on the laptop and has loved every episode so far She soon learnt their theme tune, names and even their dance moves. She finds them very funny but also learns something in each episode.
The Twirlywoos is a brand new series from Ragdoll Productions, the producers of Teletubbies and In the Night Garden.
“The team at Ragdoll has produced a show that is brilliantly funny and entertaining, but underpinned with a strong educational element,” says CBeebies Controller Kay Benbow. “Younger viewers will be charmed by the loveable antics of the Twirlywoos while the delightful humour will appeal to all age groups.”
“Television that makes children smile is so valuable and I’m proud to be part of CBeebies’ wonderful tradition of making children, and parents, smile,” says Ragdoll’s Anne Wood. “Twirlywoos is the latest in a long line of distinctive programming from Ragdoll and we hope it is imbued with the same sense of fun as its predecessors.”
In close collaboration with Early Years specialist Professor Cathy Nutbrown, Twirlywoos explores a different age appropriate concept in each episode, such as ‘over’, ‘underneath’ and ‘through’.
Twirlywoos is produced by Ragdoll Productions in association with DHX Media. The producer is Chris Wood, lead creative Steve Roberts and is devised and executive produced by Anne Wood. Michael Towner is the executive producer for CBeebies. The stop frame animation has been produced by leading UK animation studio Mackinnon and Saunders.
We’re looking forward to colouring sheets and games being added to the CBeebies site now.
