I love swans and go down the road to see our local pair of swans every day. During the summer, they were a family with two cute fluffy baby signets. Now, they are back to one adult pair. I am so glad that they have each other.
At the weekend, we were walking along next to the swans and Rebecca mentioned how she loves it when swans look at each other and make a heart shape with their elegant necks. I agreed and tried to get some shots of this for her. The swans weren’t in the mood and instead swam along together.
I had a quick look through my (rather large!) collection of swan photos and didn’t come across one, so I made the top image using Picmonkey. I started with one photo of a swan. I duplicated it and flipped it so that I had one swan opposite and two reflecting.
Rebecca and I then sat down and doodled some love heart swan sketches together. We haven’t perfected it yet! But we had fun and have been inspired to make our family Valentine’s cards.
Here is how we drew them:
Inspired by this, I plan to make my final Love Heart Swan’s drawing (must sort out the back feathers!) and do some painting with Isabelle. We will make a handprint swan and also a love heart swan photo by folding the paper (butterfly print style!). A collage would be fun too.
What are you crafting for Valentines?
