On Christmas morning Danny was awake from half past four. I sent him back to bed a few times. Then, when it was a reasonable hour I explained that we’d get up once all the girls were awake too. Izzy was the last to wake and then we all went down. I love to catch a photo of the kids faces as they see the presents but I sadly failed this year.
I did catch Rebecca though. This is her jumping with excitement! The glass of milk was now empty and only a few crumbs and magic dust remained on the plate- yes- he had been!
They couldn’t wait to open their presents.
Here they are are with their favourite morning presents- yes Doggy Doo really is Caitlyn’s favourite! She has been asking for it for years!
We had breakfast and got dressed and then went over to Nanny’s.
At Nanny’s house there were lots more presents to open. The kids were quite sweet. Caitlyn opened one present and said thank you. She didn’t realise for ages that she had at least two more sacks to open. Rebecca also assumed once she came to the end of one bag of presents that was it, but there were even more to open from other family members. They were very lucky, but they did appreciate it all.
Once the presents were opened, I went to the cemetery with Mum and Jo to lay flowers and a wreath on my Dad’s grave. I left Dave with the job of setting some of the toys up to keep the kids amused. My Friend Cayla and Peppa Pig Wind and Wobble Playhouse were big hits. Back from the cemetery and we had our first Christmas drink of the day. The grown ups then opened their presents too. I had lots of lovely things including a Sat Nav which will be very handy (not that I ever normally get lost! Ahem!).
Christmas Dinner was wonderful (thanks, Mum!). We were missing my little sister, Ceri, but we knew she was having a lovely day and we would see her Boxing Day.
During the afternoon, we walked up to Great Granny and Grampy’s house. There we also saw Granny, Grampy, Uncle Andy, Uncle Keith and John. There were lots more presents to open!
Danny had fun playing with his remote control helicopters (amazingly there were no breakages caused by this!). Izzy’s remote control Minnie Mouse car was a hit too! Though when she opened it she made us all laugh as she shouted out excitedly, “I’ve got batteries!” as if that was the best part of the present!
I again also had lots of lovely things including Lush Goodies and lots of bottles of my favourite bubbly!
We had a lovely tea courtesy of Great Granny. Izzy licked all the chocolate off the chocolate eclairs (sorry!) so we’ll keep those out of reach next year!
Danny was quite tired so he had a lift back to Nanny’s with Uncle Andy, while we enjoyed a walk past all the Christmas lights.
Back at Mums, these two little ones were soon asleep, bless them!
We had some chilled grown up time watching christmas TV, eating sweets and drinking!
It was a lovely Christmas Day!
Boxing Day morning, I drove to Great Granny’s to pick up all our presents and bring them home to our house. Then it was back to Mum’s for more family fun.
We were all pleased to have Ceri back with us! We also had more presents to open from Ceri and presents to give to her, so it was a repeat of Christmas day!
The kids always put on some kind of show. One year they had us in stitches acting out a version of Eastenders! This year, Danny directed a horror movie. Jo was in make up!
Someone must have put sweets on their rider!
Christmas hot chocolates with candy canes were enjoyed.
We also remembered that we still had our “present crackers” to open. Mine contained a pretty necklace.
It was a great Christmas. We didn’t have a lot of time to play games so we’ve organised a family games only night next week.
I also didn’t get many family photos so I’m aiming to get more group shots New Years Eve.
After a difficult year, we were so lucky to be blessed with a happy, healthy Christmas time. We are very grateful to have Jo home from hospital and continuing to do well and also Great Grampy, as last year he spent Christmas in hospital, as did Mum a few years back. These hard times make you appreciate having everyone around you for Christmas even more.
I hope you all enjoyed a happy and healthy Christmas too.
