I was quite organised in the Summer Holidays buying my children their “back to school” coats. I always make sure they each have a waterproof coat, a smart wool coat for special occasions and a hooded wool coat for everyday use.
I did have a browse for new autumn and winter coats for me but didn’t commit to buying anything. Then suddenly, overnight the weather changed from sunny beach weather without the need for any coat to cold, wet and windy storms, during which I need to be wrapped up cosily warm in a thick wool coat.
Browsing online, I can find lots of gorgeous wool coats that I would love to own. The only problem that I find is most of them don’t have a hood and whilst I like to also wear hats during the Winter, when you live so close to the coast you need a hood as well to really proect you from the elements.
As I’m really feeling the cold at the moment, I went on the hunt again and thankfully found a couple of wool coats with hoods that I do like.
On the left, a toggle duffle coat by George at Asda, and on the right a mottled wool coat by Esprit. Both coats are also available in other colours.
I really love the mottled wool one, it looks like it would keep you warm but not feel too heavy. I also like how the hood is out of the way when down- I hate hoods which get in my way and spoil my hair. Lastly, I adore the colour (and colour name)- Damson Purple- perfect for this season I feel!
Have you found your perfect winter coat yet?
