In September we celebrated Caitlyn’s 6th birthday. You can probably guess what her main present was!
I love how her new Micro Sprite Scooter can be decorated with pirate accessories! She loves it so much- I have finally been able to tear her away from Danny’s first rusty Thomas the Tank engine scooter which she loved so much.
We went for a birthday scoot in the morning.
We went to Manor park for the day. One of the strategies Danny has to cope with the energy demands of a day out is to grap a kip on the way (and again on the way home). He hates his heart condition to stop him doing anything so has learnt to preserve his energy to use it in the best way.
As always Manor Park was beautiful. I took over 400 photos- one of the reasons I have taken so long to publish this post was it took ages to whittle them down.
We played on the bikes.
Izzy went to take with a Bopper. She hadn’t realised that a little baby boy had been playing with it until then. As soon as he went to get it back from her she gave it to him, then she started going to the hut to get more Boppers for him! Both myself and his parents found it sweet and funny and I was so glad to see how good she is at sharing with other kids.
In the tunnel Izzy was again cute. She kept telling me her horsey was scared, as a way to discuss and dismiss her own fears. She was reassuring her horsey that “It’s ok, it’s just dark but we’re going to be ok.” Bless her.
Horsey joined us at the picnic table too.
As did the peacocks…
We played on the trees. Miraculously no bones were broken during all the climbing and jumping! I love how Dave can still carry Danny on his shoulders!
It was time for birthday cake. At home we had a homemade chocolate one. I chose this shop bought one for our day out and thought it looked amazing. She loves pinatas so I thought she’d love a pintata style cake.
Inititally the birthday girl was not impressed. Look at her face!
Thankfully she came around! (Izzy looks sneaky as she is stealing all the sweets from around the cake!)
Caitlyn was convinced this was going to be a “jammy cake” which she doesn’t like. However the sponge and sweeties were lovely so we all (thankfully) enjoyed it in the end. I think I’d better stick to our usual chocolate cake in the future though!
Dave, Danny and Caitlyn played piggy in the middle with the hoop. Dave also managed to hoop Nanny which made us all laugh!
No horsies were harmed during this game!
Izzy went out of sight from me: “I’m just in the tunnel with my new friend.” she informed me when I found her.
The girls put on a lovely singing and dancing show for us. Danny did sneakily try to hijack it for them with his own hoop show but the show did go on…
Rebecca reminds me so much of my little sister Ceri in these photos when she was seven.
Elephants and rhinos.
Looking at the fish pond.
We saw some pretty scary live animals- danger may bite! Do not feed!
Look at Danny with his shirt open and no tee underneath. Should I buy him a medallion for Christmas?
We love the goats. It’s so lovely to walk through their home with them rather than walking past them living in little pens. They also have their own off limit areas too so they can get peace away from us intruding humans if they want to but they seem to enjoy the company.
Cute baby meercats!
The owl and the pussy cat went to sea in a beautiful pea green boat…
Pretty flowers.
Sand play.
Anyone for tennis? I can’t wait until the new domes are open for business.
Look who I found under a tree!
A much needed drink- ooh just seeing this makes me want one again!
I used to love going through the cave tunnel when I was younger. Now I love to send everyone in, run around and take photos of them emerging the other side. Off the girls went together with strict instructions to look after each other and come straight to me.
Caitlyn came out,
then Rebecca- so my worry was, where had Izzy got to?
I was so relieved when I spotted her walking through with Dave!
Watching Steve, Lisa and Bryn, our favourite gibbons. I can’t wait to book another VIP experience with them.
Danny was too tired for this walk so mums stayed with him on the bench for rest time.
Family see-saw time!
A visit to the shop and new buys.
The lady from the shop gave us a peacock feather.
The kids helped to tidy up all the toys on the green, then it was time to go home.
Our Manor Park season tickets are definitely worthwhile. We can’t wait to visit again soon.
