We are members of the H&A Bathtime Funtime Squad. We were recently set our latest challenge- to share our back to school best hair tips and styles-
H&A kindly sent us the hamper above. Rebecca took the lovely bath towel as her new swimming towel for her new school swimming lessons. We added one Disney Ariel Shampoo and Detangler Spray to our family swim bag, gave one to our cousin Cerys to try and put the third one in our bathroom to replenish haircare supplies!
Back to School Hair
Mornings are rushed so my first top tip is to have everything you need organised for the morning. I make sure the Ariel Detangler Spray and each girls bobble and brush pot is out ready. We also have storage boxes with more head bands, bobbles and clips but I find if we just keep a few bobbles and clips in the butterfly and flower pots it makes it easier to choose for school.
My kids wash their hair during their bedtime bathtime. Usually I french plait their hair for bed as it gives it a nice curl but also prevents it from knotting.
Just in case of knots I give a few sprays of the detangler before I brush so brushing is never a painful experience. (I actually put more spray on Caitlyn than planned as I wanted to capture a photo of the spray-oops!)
We can then brush the hair through easily.
I admit that the girls mostly have a “uniform” hairstyle for school. If they had to choose a different hairstyle every day it would waste precious morning time so we tend to do the same on weekdays and experiment more at the weekend when it doesn’t matter if more complicated “do’s” end up all down and scruffy by ten o’clock!
We start with a little ponytail. This is a style that can be worn on it’s own with some decorative clips or a headband.
However, for school we always scoop the whole of the hair into a big ponytail as it makes the style more sturdy for school.
Some days the girl’s just wear an everyday ponytail. (Wrap a thin length of hair around the bobble and fasten with a bobby pin to give this style a more complete look.)
Again clips or a headband can be added.
For swim days we then twist the ponytail around itself into a quick twist bun.
Fasten by adding another bobble over the ponytail and the bun and you are done. We never wear this style for Gym though as it’s not great for headstands!
When the girls have ballet we use a hair donut and fold the hair over for a quick bun but we prefer the twist bun for school as it feels more secure and lighter.
For weekends they often have me plaiting fishtails and other interesting new hairstyles they have heard about.
