I have already blogged about our Team Honk attempt to climb up the Preseli Mountains. However, I still had an album of photos from my camera that haven’t been published yet, and since our busy weekend last week for Team Honk, I admit we haven’t fitted in much between school, club and illness (ear ache seems to be going around our house at the moment!).
So last Saturday, we went up the Preseli Mountains. These photos make me think my little sister is flying a kite, but no, she is holding the Team Honk Baton in the wind!
The weather was terrible. High winds, hail storms, wet and cold.
At first the sky was quite overcast. Here Rebecca is the only real pop of colour as she takes in the view.
My lens kept getting wet, giving a blurry feel to the photos.
As we gave up and returned to shelter in the car, the weather rolled over before our eyes and we spotted this blue sky and sunshine!
It really reminds you how quickly the weather changes up the Mountains, but I’m glad we did it this way around, rather than venturing up while the weather was stable and then far up the mountain getting caught in the hail storm and having to find our way back! We really couldn’t see or hear anyhing.
The hail was so painful and it was bitterly cold. I’m finding this weather tiring to be honest!
I’m really looking forward to a deep freeze (icy weather is so pretty) and then warm Spring time so I can finally get the outdoor jobs done like cleaning my car and sorting my garden (it is a disgrace at the moment but it’s far too cold and wild for Izzy to be outside for long amounts of time with me. Our garden gets all the Coastal Winds from the local beach).
It is always cold up the mountains, even on a “nice” day, but this was the coldest I have ever felt up there. I was so glad to get home and warm up!
On Sunday we went to Margam Park with Johnson Babies. It was a gorgeous place…but again so cold and wet, so we will definitely visit there again in the future and gets lots of photos (Caitlyn is present in the photo above- she is hiding behind Izzy!).
.
This weekend, we are planning a local walk but will definitely wrap up warm, take it easy and look after ourselves so we can enjoy our day without falling ill due to the weather.
I hope everyone else is staying warm and dry!
Great acheivement in very challenging and changing conditions
what great photos! love the feeling you get of the weather from them!
Well done again for being out in such horrible conditions. I must admit I have had enough of the rain now too and look forward to some dry weather. What a lovely family photo at the park, more preferable to being battered by hail and winds! Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
Wow you're brave! Not sure I would have gone up in in wind and hail like that!
wow you are so hardcore in the name of team honk! well done you .. although i am feeling anxious about my leg now x
The hail storms have been fierce I can't believe you went up the mountain in one! You are seriously hard core 🙂 The baton comes to us next week and I can't wait but we definitely won't be going up any mountains and hopefully there won't be any hail!
cold and windy but wow what amazing views! #countrykids
