This week we have been lucky to have sunshine again so have been partaking in more “traditional” toddler outdoor play rather than really messy play (we will get there!). However, this is still Sensory Play so I’ve included it anyway for Matilda’s Mae’s Messy Play.
Our water table does have legs and can be an upright table to play alongside. However, I thought I would leave it on the grass so it is easier for a one year old to play with.
Isabelle loves “fishing” and playing “Hook a Duck” with the toy fishing rod. This is brilliant for developing her gross and fine motor skills. To be honest, I still find it difficult to keep the rod steady and fish for things!
I love this photo with her smiling at her “Rubber Ducky”. I like these “Hook a Ducks” that came from Letterbox as they all have distinguishing features. I can ask her to point to the one with the crown etc to check what words she is understanding. I would also like a family of ducks of different sizes and colours so we can learn about these too.
We sang “Three Little Ducks went Swimming One Day”. I still feel enormous relief when “all the ducks come swimming back!”
We also played with shells, fish, dolphins and other sea creatures in the water.
Isabelle learnt about what floats and what sinks.
She noticed that she could make “Floating” objects sink by filling them with water.
She likes pouring water through her stacking turtles which have holes in the bottom.
She came up from play mode to check if Mummy was still taking photos of her! (Yes, of course she was!).
As you can see Isabelle loves star fish. I have to say that all my kids have had the same fascination and I love them too. They are fascinating and beautiful creatures.
Ooh, what shall I grab next?
Once again, during outdoor play, Isabelle enjoyed watching the birds feed from the table, the trees move in the breeze and the occasional cat stroll past.
She was gurgling and talking lots as she interacted with the different creatures.
I loved this small world that she created featuring everything from octopus, seahorses, dolphins and sharks all playing happily together.
She went out quite a few times in the week to play with her water table. We had a play with toy boats and another one with watering cans and containers. She loves water play!
We also had fun in the hay at Manor House Wildlife Park.
Eco-Flo from our Actimel Packaging from also a fun material to play in…we have saved this for messy play next week when we will add water to it… I can’t wait.
See you next week for Messy Play with Matilda Mae.
