I am back in training for Race for Life 5k and the Dale Half Marathon in September. I also wanted to take part in a Race for Life 10K in Cardiff in June, but unfortunately, it’s the same weekend as Brit Mums so no can do.
Therefore I need a good pair of running shoes, so I agreed to review a pair for Sports Shoes.
I chose these Asics Ladies Gel-Galaxy 5 Running Shoes as I trust Asics as a brand for running shoes and I liked the look of them!
The delivery was very fast- they arrived the next day.
(Please excuse me for not wearing trainer socks in my photos! I was in a hurry as it is hard fitting in the time to run.)
They are very comfortable. I ordered a size six and they are on the snug size, so if you like your trainers to be roomier then you should order a half size bigger. However, I feel more secure running when my trainers are closely fitted, so these are good for me.
The Rearfoot GEL Cushioning enables optimal shock absorption- this is becoming more important to me as a runner as I’m getting older and wanting to protect my joints for the future. GEL units are also strategically placed in the midsole which I found helped kept me feet in the correct position. There is also a removeable sockliner, which keeps the shoe nicely cushioned but can be removed and washed for a healthier shoe environment.
The trainers are 3M Reflective, which means they offer improved visability when out running in low light. I’m enjoying these lighter nights, but it is usually starting to get dark by the time I arrive back home, so night time visability is crucial for my safety.
There is a plastic bridge located under the arch which gives the shoe strength and stability without loss of flexibility. I found the grips really effective too when I tested them when damp on my tiled kitchen floor- I don’t want to do all my training then ruin it all by slipping on a slippery surface.
Asics describe this style as entry level running shoes, so don’t expect to run a marathon in them. However, I’m really enjoying running in them:
- They feel light to run in.
- They give me good support and stability.
- They are a practical colour for those inevitable wet, muddy runs we all have to do.
- They look good (I love the splashes of pink!)
- They are easy to clean.
- They are so comfortable with the optimal cushioning.
- They are affordable.
I’m really looking forward to Race for Life. Rebecca really enjoyed it last year and can’t wait to run again with me!
Are you running Race for Life or any other organised runs this year?
Great post!
I have been very glad to hear about this Asics sports shoes and whatever you have shared in here that's all are very true because currently I am using this running shoes which is very comfortable and stylish as well. So I think everybody should try to wear this shoes and hope that everybody will be satisfied by wearing this shoes as well. So best of luck and keep well.
