I love this time of year. I’m starting (later than usual) to prepare my garden as another living area for the family.
The kids are starting to play out more, the lawn has been cut and the sand and water pit are ready to play with.
I still have lots more (boring) jobs left to do like taking rubbish to the tip (tomorrow’s job of the day!) and weeding the patio, but to spur me on I’ve been looking at ideas to get my garden fit for Spring and Summer Garden Parties.
Last year, Summer Houses were popular, but have you seen the new thing? Garden Pods! How cosy are they? They are way out of my price league but I can dream about sitting in one with friends and families enjoying a few garden drinks!
However, here are some more affordable (and realistic!) must-haves for my garden party. I think gardens look cheerful when decorated with pretty bunting, a bright bird box and colourful pots. I like to have colourful accessories in my garden to compliment the natural colour of the flowers. Barbecues can be funky looking as well as practical.
I need a new garden table set and I can’t decide between something contemporary, like this Blue Table and Chairs or a traditional Garden Picnic Bench, what do you think?
You can also pick up stylish plastic glasses, plates and bowls for very reasonable prices to add more colour and pattern to your picnic table. Candles in jars make a home made table centrepiece. The Head Chef needs a crazy apron- I like this retro look Marmite one- You will either love it or hate it!
A Space Bopper is a must!
In the evening, as the Sun gets down, make sure you have a jumper or cardigan to put on and lots of blankets ready for you and your guests. I would like a patio warmer when the kids are older.
Light more candles and think about your outdoor lighting. I love these light up LED Drink Mats- a fun way to find your drink at night! As well as practical garden lights hand some pretty LED lights around the garden, such as these Butterfly Lights.
The most important thing to remember is make the most of the nice weather that we do get as soon as we get it- we don’t know how long it will last!
