We were recently asked to review Learning Resources Original Answer Buzzers.
I love using these Answer Buzzes in the classroom at school, so I’m delighted to have a set for my own children at home!
I find having “quiz show style” answer buzzers motivates children to want to take part in educational games and quizzes by making it more fun and giving quieter children the confidence to answer.
They can turn any lesson into a game with four different colours and fun sounds- honking horn, boxing bell, doorbell and boing!
This was the first time that my children had used these buzzers. They were every excited so we had to have a play with the Buzzers before we used them as part of a game. Beware: they are noisy! Especially when they are all being buzzed at the same time constantly while your children laugh hysterically!
These are the sounds they make:
You need to establish some ground rules!
Once, they had got repeatedly buzzing the buzzers out of their systems, we could play some games.
First, we played “I Spy with my Little Eye”.
Then we played, “I’m thinking of an animal”, where we give out clues and the other players have to guess the animals.
Rebecca then asked to play, “Spelling bee”, so I tested them on their spellings.
Lastly, we played a General Knowledge Quiz.
At my Mum’s house over Christmas, we used the Answer Buzzers with board games that require “fastest fingers on the buzzers” rather than turn-taking to answer.
The kids loved them and I’m sure I will be grateful for them as good homework and learning motivators in the future!
They gave the Answer Buzzers a big thumbs up!
Each buzzer requires two AAA batteries and they do not have an off switch, so store them carefully so they are not repeatedly buzzing.
