Hello All,
It’s nearly Back to School time! Already! Then it will be Harvest time and all of a sudden Christmas will be upon us!
I will be sad that the holidays are over, I love the freedom of not having to stick to the school routine and going on day trips most days with the kids.
However, one of the best bits about the kids going back to school is getting all their new bits and pieces together. New haircuts, uniform (if needed), socks, shoes, bags, lunchboxes, bobbles, clips and my all time favourite… new stationery.
So, I was very excited when we given the chance to review the new Robinsons Fruit Shoot Smencils by Learning Resources.
Smencils, as you’ve probably guessed, are pencils that smell, or scented pencils as they are more commonly known.
The difference between Smencils and ordinary scented pencils is Smencils are the worlds only scented pencils to be made from 100% recycled newspaper. This is a big plus point for me, as I like to encourage my children to use environmentally friendly products.
As they were scented pencils, I had assumed that they would also be colouring pencils, so I was quite surprised to find out that they were graphite drawing pencils.
The pencils were of a very high quality and Danny and Rebecca said they were very nice to write and draw with. I had a go too and had to agree.
I am grateful to any stationery that encourages my children to want to write more!
We also did the “sharpen test” and found that they sharpened easily too.
Of course, we had to do a “Smell test”! The pencils come in five different Fruit Shoot Flavoured Scents:
- Tropical
- Orange
- Apple
- Summer Fruits
- Blackcurrant & Apple
Both Danny and Rebecca’s favourite was the Summer Fruits scent, with Apple coming a close second for Danny and Orange being Rebecca’s second favourite scent.
Orange was my favourite!
Each smencil comes in it’s own biodegradable tube, guaranteeing freshness for two years. This feature turns it into a nice “special” pencil to bring to school. Rebecca wants to give them out to her friends in her party goodie bags.
I found out that Smencils do make scented colouring pencils and also scented pens (Smens!). I will be buying the children a pack each of these for Stocking Fillers for Christmas (Ssh!).
If you would like to win one of ten of the Robinson Fruit Shoot Smencils Starter Kits, then you can find Learning Resources Facebook Competition here.
Facebook Competition Closing Date: Midnight Friday 14th September
I hope you enjoy the rest of the Summer Holidays!
love
Claire
