Hello All,
Nothing much happened on Monday really. The usual old getting back in the old routine kind of a day.
Danny got up and dressed as usual. He wanted to go to to school but wasn’t his chirpy self.
We dropped Rebecca off. We got to his school at five past eight. We said goodbye, had a goodbye kiss and he got out of the car.
I stayed. He opened the car door and got back in the car again. I asked if he was OK. He said yes, but he felt really tired. he said, “Every day I feel tired, but I pretend I don’t so I can be a “normal boy”. Today I’m too tired to pretend to act normal. I’m going to have to act like I really have got half a heartand take it easy.”
So, at nine years old, my boy had his first day off school due to his heart condition (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome).
He rested, took it easy and was fine.
But it makes you think, how when our heart children go about everyday life so enthusiastically and so bravely, we (or at least I) forget how life really can be so much more of an effort for them.
I’m so proud of Danny and his heart friends, don’t worry if you need to rest and take it easy, you deserve to!
love
Claire
