I used to love my styling head doll when I was young. It was such fun to paint make up on and to practise hair styles-who would have thought that I'd grow up and have three girls of my own and three lots of hair to plait each night before bed. I'm delighted that the girls have been sent a styling head doll of their own.
This Chad Valley DesignaFriend Styling Hair Doll arrives in a smart box making an excellent gift.
Here are some photos of the un-boxing. We removed the doll from the cardboard. We took the plastic bands off her lovely, shiny hair and gave it a brush.
The accessories arrive in a plastic bag which can be added to the heart shaped stand.
There are brief instructions on the back of the box but kids will learn through experimentation more than anything.
The thick hair is easy to brush and the girls found it easier to style with practise.
It would be easier to apply the make up and style the doll's hair if the base was weighted or had suction pads. We used team work and took it in turns to hold the base while others did their magic make up and hairdressing skills on the doll.
This kit includes eye shadows with applicator.
There is also a lipstick and a lip gloss.
These hair "stickers" are amazing, they immediately stick into place but are easily removable and can be used again.
The clip in hair braids are lovely too.
The girls had such fun doing her make up.
They loved styling her hair too.
They have already started adding their own bits and pieces to this set so there is now a make up bag, blusher and brush, bobbles, kirby grips and slides in our collection too! Wipes or a flannel to clean the make up off also make a useful addition. We are currently storing this toy in the box, but it would make a nice addition to a dressing table in a play room or bedroom too.
I would recommend this toy as it is fun to play with but also encourages self care and independence.
The Chad Valley DesignaFriend Styling Head Doll is currently £16.99 (was £24.99) and would make an ideal creative gift for Christmas.
Did you have a styling doll when growing up? Do you know someone who would love this styling doll?
