Stacey Solomon Gets Cooking with Keema

Last week I wrote about how I start fancying comfort food at this  time of year.  I shared with you my recipe for  cottage pie.  Being vegetarian, I made a Soy Mince version, but I haven't forgotten that some of you also wanted a recipe for a meatier version.

Luckily a celebrity and chef have been busy making a Shepherd's Pie with a difference. I love the flavours that they use.  Watch the video and read below to find out more:

Celebrity mum Stacey Solomon has joined forces with chef Nisha Katona to encourage mums to get cooking with keema and help you dish-up quick and easy meals that all the family will love.

Made from lamb mince, keema is inspired by South Asian cuisine and is a great way to shake-up your weekly recipe repertoire and take your family on a taste adventure!

The perfect meal solution for busy mums looking to satisfy any family’s mealtime demands, keema offers something for everyone. It can be served as a traditional Indian dish with rice or naan, but is so versatile that it can be used to give a twist to a family favourite such as Shepherd’s pie, be added to pasta for a new-style bolognaise or to jacket potatoes. It is really easy to create simple, yet satisfying meals.

As keema is a great base for so many dishes, it’s perfect for batch cooking. Cook a batch at the weekend and freeze portions ready for weekly meal options whenever you need.

To see just how easy (and fun) it can be, visit www.simplybeefandlamb.co.uk to watch Stacey and Nisha cook-up a storm in the kitchen. Chef and mum Nisha shows fellow busy mum Stacey how to create a perfect keema and the different meals that can be whipped-up along the way.

Commenting on her own experiences in the kitchen, Stacey said: “Cooking something different that you know the kids will love is a massive challenge. I’m first to admit that I have a lot to learn when it comes to cooking and I’ve loved working with Nisha to learn all about keema. I’ve started cooking-up a batch on a Sunday and using it during the week on jacket potatoes and pasta. My kids love all the different options so I’m able to provide something different each week and there’s nothing to it!”

Chef Nisha Katona said, “People often overlook lamb mince. It’s such a shame because it is so versatile and goes perfectly with international flavours. I grew up eating keema, it is so delicious.  Kids love it – it’s full of flavour and when packed with vegetables, it’s the perfect health by stealth dish. Quick and simple, it’s the perfect meal solution for busy mums. The video I’ve put together with Stacey shows you just how easy it is. I hope everyone gives it a go – whether you top it with mash for a luscious spiced shepherd’s pie or  simply add to jacket potatoes – keema is the perfect way to shake-up your family meal times!”
